We are always looking for volunteers to help keep the park running smoothly and looking good.
Volunteers are responsible for opening and closing the park each day by unlocking and locking the two gates. If you are willing to open or close the park once a week or on a rotating basis, please consider volunteering.
We are in special need of Friday and Saturday evening park closers!
Monthly Clean-up Days
Shaw Dog Park Association organizes monthly park clean-up days, typically held on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Volunteers remove trash, pick up dog waste, level the surface, and perform other routine landscaping and cleaning work. Scheduled park clean-up days are typically posted a week in advance in the park and online via the listserve, website and Facebook page.
Ten newly planted crepe myrtles need water during the scorching DC summer months.
If you are willing to lend a hand with watering on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis, please volunteer! The work is easy to do while spending some QT in the park with your pup.
Staffing Special Events
Periodically Shaw Dog Park Association participates in community events such as special dog adoption days or neighborhood street fairs. Volunteers are needed to help set-up and staff the event.
